Suicide is an option?
Most suicidal people, if prevented, are relieved (but not all). Approximately 30,000 Americans kill themselves in a year and approximately 20,000 Americans are murdered. Its interesting how little attention there is to suicide and mental illness issues.

Depression: A real disease which is getting worse due to societal stresses, diet, lifestyle, etc (Y) or overdiagnosed to please?
I work with people who have mental illness---and I think depression is largely biologically based. There are enough past references to depression to not exclusively link it to modern day stress. Nonetheless, I can't help but think that modern society and its stressors trigger depression in people who may not have gotten it had they lived a couple centuries earlier. The American Indians may have a gene susceptible to alcoholism but alcohol wasn't a problem until they were introduced to it.
Do i have a mental condition?
